Calling all budding film makers

The BNSW Environmental Trust National Video Festival Competition invites budding filmmakers from across Australia to create a 5-minute video to promote bike riding as a sustainable, healthy and environmentally friendly form of transport and recreation.

There are many ways to get started, for example, you can use a helmet cam and film your trip to work, school, bicycle event like the Spring Cycle or you can do a full production. It's up to you and remember, your film does not have to have a dialogue.

Aurora Community Channel is the Official Television Partner and your video maybe shown on TV if made in broadcast quality as follows:-

  • Video Format: H.264 and .mov preferred
  • Aspect Ratio: Native aspect ratio without letterboxing (example: 16:9)
  • Resolution: 720x576 (16:9)
  • Audio Format: audio is within the .mov and 48khz
  • Frames per second: 25

The winning video will effectively 'sell' bicycle riding by motivating and encouraging the viewer to consider how and where they can cycle more often.

The winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000 with $500 and $250 for second and third place respectively.

The competition is open to all ages (only entries that comply with the terms and conditions will be accepted). An entry fee of $22 (including GST) will apply to entries with $10 of this going to the Environmental Trust.

However, for schools and children under 16, entry is free!
